Kumeyaay Place Names Map
The Kumeyaay Place Names Map was created by Margaret Field, Richard Carrico, Mike Connolly, and Caitlyn Thompson.
The map was created using ArcGIS StoryMaps and is based on the places of origin of the Kumeyaay people, whose baptisms were recorded in the San Diego mission records between 1775 and 1840. The Kumeyaay names for many of these places were linguistically reconstructed and translated when possible. Additional historical and archaeological research was also used to identify the meanings of some places featured.
